I work from digital photos--sometimes found photos (flickr, google image search, etc), sometimes my own. I usually crop the photos heavily and end up using just a small part of the original. In both binary and aesthetic terms this means less data. I limit the data in order to create simpler, more abstract work with an emphasis on composition, color, and tonality.
